1992-1995 — Danida rural water supply and sanitation program in Mbeya, Iringa, and Kagera Regions, Tanzania
I developed and managed the community component of the project, including a highly-regarded activity to provide post-construction support to the community management of water supplies. As part of this, I designed and implemented a training program for project field staff that integrated the work of the technical and community development staff. A project evaluation judged this component to be highly successful and exemplary.
1990 — Danida Rural Water and Sanitation Project (Ruwasa), Uganda
I managed the community component of the project as it began to scale up procedures for community participation in the planning and construction of rural water and sanitation infrastructure.
1988-1990 — SIDA Water Financial Management Project in Embu, Kenya
I developed and managed the activity to form community water boards and hand over to them rural piped schemes that had previously been operated by the government.
1986-1988 — SIDA Health and Sanitation through Water (Hesawa) Program in Mara, Mwanza, and Kagera Regions, Tanzania
I developed and managed the community participation and post-construction support component of the project.
